Krustina Staykova - secretary of SVETLINA Community centre, Trud village: The results of our work are often unnoticable, but they mark the spirituality of the nation

02.03.2010

What kind of person is behind the image of the woman who resembles visually the chairwoman of the Bulgarian Parliament?

A woman with responsibilities to myself, to my family and my job. Since my job requires contacting many people, I try to be moral, strict, loyal, democratic in favour of everyone. I`m a friendly person with frank character and have the ability to attract people because of my jolly nature.

I like enjoying myself and helping people, it makes them feel good in my company. I realise I`m a smart and bright woman but I use every possibility to learn more and more, so I take part in different kind of seminars and projects.

I graduated from secondary school in Haskovo - economic profile, then went to Plovdiv where I graduated the Plovdiv University - subject: Culture Management, with profile in Library and Bibliography. I like reading, especially poetry, embroidery and crochet are my hobby. I love to spend time with my family.

Community centres are typical of our country, what do you think that is necessary to be done, if we want to know more about them?

Community centres have huge potential but it is such a pity that conditions in our country don`t allow them to show it all. The results of work of all people who work in the Centres would be much more successful and useful, if administrative problems didn`t occupy our time. Our job is creative and constructive. In the last several years there has been strong interest to Bulgarian culture.

I would like to invite all media and public institutions to face the Community centres and to try to understand the people who devote their lives to public interests. It is important to solve the problems today because tomorrow`s results depend on it.

If it was possible for one day to exchange your way of life for some famous person`s one, who would he/she be?

I`m so glad that fortune met Mrs. Tzacheva and me. She is one of the most important people in the country now - chairwoman of the Bulgarian Parliament. More and more women hold responsible positions - I really like it. I`m an independent woman and I wouldn`t exchange my job even for a day - it is my life! My job is very important because I answer for many people, what I do influences very much on that if people will be glad of their own engagements.

I believe in my personal qualities - knowledge, culture and management skills help for the good reputation of our Community centre. I`m so proud of what I do but as a real lion /my zodiacal sign is Lio/ I always want more and more. I will change my job if only I can be more useful being on some other position. Lily Ivanova, Stoyanka Mutafova are some of the people who I`m delighted with. We should know what kind of difficulties exist in lives of people who devote themselves to the others, we should respect them and follow their example.

You said in one interview that it is exhausting to answer all these journalistic questions. What do you prefer in your everyday life: to answer or to be the one who asks?

play both roles in my everyday work because I communicate with many people and institutions. No matter wich role a person plays, it is important for him/her to be sincere and loyal, to stand his/her ground.

Is there a question that you want to answer to but you haven`t been asked so far?

Yes, about the problems in my everyday work which are problems of all my colleagues too, about what kind of team I work in, about what kind of people support me. I wouldn`t be able to do all the things which I`m proud of, if I was alone. I`m a part of a team of ambitious and friendly people who I love very much. I want to thank all of them. My family supports me without reservation and it gives me energy to be myself and to be useful to other people.

The Community centre which you work in organised a concert to support the sufferers in Haiti. What is more important for you: the acts or the names first?

I believe both shouldn`t be separated, they fit best together.

First impression is very important. What is crucial for the people from Trud village when they build an opinion for something/somebody?

Acts and friendly support.

What do you want to be famous with exept for the obvious qualities you have?

In my opinion most impotant parts of my character, which I would like people to know, are that i love my job, I`m a kind person, positive, cheery. What I want very much is to write memoirs, to write about all the things - good and bad - which my work consists of.

What is the first association that you make when you hear the word COMMUNITY CENTRE? What about the word PARLIAMENT?

Community centre - spirituality.
Parliament - responsibility.

What is your message to all the people who will read this interview?

I wish them health. Let`s remember how important it is to be good people and to love our jobs. Let`s appreciate people who we work with, we should have self-confidence because our work is very important. The results of our work are often unnoticable but they mark the spirituality of the nation.
