A newly formed scouts club at Trud village

At the initiative of the "Svetlina-1929" Innovative Community Centre in the village of Trud and Codji Dugget a volunteer from the Peace Corps a Scouts Club will be founded in the village of Trud. A team of volunteers has been formed - Milena Vodenicharova, Maria Petkova, Ekaterina Paunova, Martin Paunov, Lily Sokolova.
Four gatherings of the team have been held Under Codji's direction and it has been decided upon activities and delegation of duties over the preparation work- contacting The National Scouts Organization from Bulgaria, meeting scouts from Plovdiv, etc. Invitations have been issued and sent out to representatives of various institutions from Trud, parents, children and young people.
The volunteers and the Community Centre had their first meeting with the community of Trud on November 21st , 2010. 27 people were present at the meeting, 9 of which children from Trud wanting to become scouts.
Maria, Milena and Lily introduced the people to the idea of a scouts club, the scouts' principles and what the adults can do to help.
Damian - vice-chairman of the National Scouts Organization Bulgaria gave a talk about Bulgarian scouts and camps. The scouts of Plovdiv shared how they had become such and why. They also made a display of how to pitch a tent.
After answering questions by parents and children the scouts and everyone presents had fun playing diverting games.
Next meeting will be held on December 5th, 2010 where children will pick a name of their own for the club and will organize the activities during the first months.
